Coston Primary School

Coston is an inclusive and safe learning community that inspires us to achieve standards of excellence in all we think, say and do.

Overall Curriculum Intent

At Coston Primary School, we aim to provide an inspiring curriculum, nurturing the development of the whole child and in which every child can achieve. The curriculum is designed to: recognise children’s prior learning, provide first hand learning experiences, allow the children to develop interpersonal skills and collaborate with each other, build resilience and become creative, critical and reflective thinkers. Themes which capture the children’s interest and enthusiasm for learning have been chosen and are delivered in an approach where learning is engaging, relevant and meaningful.

Every child is recognised as a unique individual. We celebrate and welcome diversity within our school community. The ability to learn is underpinned by the teaching of basic skills, knowledge, concepts and values. We constantly provide enhancement opportunities to engage learning and believe that childhood should be a happy, investigative and enquiring time in our lives where there are no limits to curiosity and there is a thirst for new experiences and knowledge. The aim is for the children to eventually leave Coston with the confidence and skills to make decisions, be reflective and self-evaluate, make connections and become lifelong learners.
