Head Teacher's Welcome

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to Coston Primary School.

Coston is a vibrant, diverse and inclusive school where children are at the heart of everything we do. We are ambitious for every child and committed to providing an education which enables them not only to achieve well academically, but to grow into confident, curious, compassionate and responsible young people.

At the heart of our school is a simple belief:

We want every child who comes through our doors to know that they are valued for who they are. Our children bring different cultures, languages, experiences, strengths and needs to our community, and we believe that this diversity makes Coston a richer and stronger place in which to learn and grow.

We have high expectations for children's learning and achievement and provide a broad and ambitious curriculum which gives them the knowledge, skills and confidence they need for the future. Alongside this, we place great importance on the wider experiences of childhood. Through sport, music, the arts, trips and visits, clubs, outdoor play, leadership opportunities and the many other experiences we offer, we want children to discover their interests, develop their talents and experience the joy of learning.

Inclusion is fundamental to who we are. Our school encompasses mainstream provision, specialist provision for children with complex needs and Coston SRP, our Specialist Resourced Provision for autistic children. We are proud to be a community in which children learn alongside one another, difference is understood and celebrated, and support is shaped around the individual child.

We also know that children flourish when school and home work together. We value the relationships we build with our families and recognise the important part that parents and carers play in their children's education. We want Coston to be a community in which families, as well as children, feel welcomed, listened to and that they belong.

Above all, Coston is a happy school. Our children bring energy, character and enthusiasm to it every day, and I feel enormously privileged to be their Head Teacher.
